Tottenham ‘Increasingly Likely’ to seal Archie Gray transfer on Sunday from Leeds United

Tottenham are “increasingly likely” to seal a deal to sign Archie Gray from Leeds United on Sunday 30 June, according to David Anderson.

Writing on his personal X account (30 June), the Mirror journalist reports that the north London club look set to seal a deal for the 18-year-old midfielder after his move to Brentford collapsed.

Spurs have been keen to sign Gray all summer and were forced into action after Brentford were granted permission to give the player a medical ahead of a £40m deal [Nizaar Kinsella,29 June], only for Leeds to then reject their bid over payment terms.

Leeds United fans happier to sell Archie Gray to Tottenham

There was a big uproar when the deal was announced for Gray to move to Brentford, because most fans believe he is far better than that level.

There is an expectation that the Whites are playing at a level too low for Gray, despite his age, and with top six clubs interested alongside European giants there is an acceptance that they will make an offer that is too good to refuse.

But that offer was supposed to come from a bigger club than Brentford, and it seems as though the news got leaked in order to force those clubs into action.

Leeds needed to make a sale to comply with FFP and PSR rules and the player is now open to a move away after being made aware of the situation.

It’s a case of when not if he leaves Elland Road at this stage now, and it seems inevitable that he will be heading to north London rather than west London.
