Tim Howard warns James Trafford after heart-in-mouth Leeds United moment vs Arsenal
James Trafford had a game to forget for Leeds United against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Whites' unbeaten run was snapped after losing 2-1 to the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on 10 October.
For around 60 minutes, Daniel Farke's team were on top of the reigning Premier League champions and hardly gave them any room to breathe.
After taking the lead through James Justin, the Elland Road side quickly relinquished it when Riccardo Calafiori beat Trafford.
From there, Arsenal took the wind out of the West Yorkshire outfit's sails.
In the 70th minute, a well-worked move from the hosts was slotted past the Peacocks goalkeeper by Bruno Guimaraes, with Mikel Arteta steering his team to victory.
Why James Trafford can no longer afford Leeds United mistakes
Trafford played for England during the international break and is clearly competing with Jordan Pickford for Thomas Tuchel's favour.
Performances like the one against Arsenal won't do the English goalkeeper any favours.
Tim Howard has warned the 24-year-old shot-stopper that he has more pressure on his shoulders now that he's in frame to be England's number one.
Speaking on the USA Network on 10 October, the former Everton goalkeeper said, "It's a day [Trafford] will want to have back. A couple of mistakes. But look, he's England's number one now, so he has got to up his level."
Towards the end of the game, the Whites' fans were left sweating as Trafford came way out of his line to compete for the ball, and Victor Gyokeres won the duel, leaving the striker with an open goal to aim at.
Rebecca Lowe added, "Leeds fans' hearts were in their mouths when [Trafford] came on that little run outside the box just a few moments ago towards the end of that game."
What Daniel Farke got wrong vs Arsenal
Farke deployed an almost perfect game plan in the first half, stifling Arsenal with the offside trap.
Leeds pushed the Gunners back into their own half and didn't let their midfielders or attackers have much space.
The Whites deservedly took the lead in the 55th minute, but from then on, the German manager could've handled the game better.
Jayden Bogle, James Justin, Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach worked their socks off for an hour and looked exhausted, eventually leading to Calafiori getting in behind.
Farke still didn't make any changes until after Guimaraes scored the eventual winner, with Harry Wilson and Brenden Aaronson replacing Tanaka and Noah Okafor in the 71st minute.
The West Yorkshire outfit put in an encouraging performance for the majority of the game, but let it slip in the end.
