How Leeds United target Petar Sucic has opened door to England move after fresh demands
Leeds United looked into the signing of Inter Milan midfielder Petar Sucic in the summer window.
However, the Whites were ultimately rebuffed, with the Serie A side not open to an exit unless significant sums were involved.
In the end, as Leeds went in search of new midfielders, they were unable to bring any in, with the focus on new arrivals instead pointed elsewhere.
Just a month on from the window closing, Daniel Farke's side have started the season strong, and remain unbeaten in the Premier League.
With sights potentially on Europe, bringing in fresh faces and improvements in January may be in the minds of Elland Road officials.
And updates on Sucic's demands at Inter Milan have opened the door to a possible transfer to England.
What is Petar Sucic demanding at Inter Milan?
Sucic is currently unhappy with his contract at the Serie A champions and has reportedly demanded talks over new terms.
According to SportSport, the Croatian has asked for a "significant" increase on his current wages and is also seeking assurances on his playing time.
Manager Christian Chivu has rarely utilised him, with just two starts in the opening five Serie A games and a total of 182 minutes.
In the summer, Inter were unmoved by Leeds' interest in Sucic, and did not see a reality where he would leave.
But now, the report shares that if Inter do not succumb or reach a compromise on Sucic's demands, it is "very possible" a move to England could emerge in January.
This will of course be a developing story, as news will emerge over the coming weeks on the status of those contract talks.
But, with Sucic previously on Leeds' radar, those in LS11 could have their eyes set on San Siro.
What would it take to bring Sucic to Leeds?
The report on Sucic's contract demands has also shared that a price over £42.3million will be required to secure his services.
In the summer, the Whites had hoped £34.1m would be enough, with Newcastle also mentioned at the time.
The Geordies are still mentioned in the race, alongside Everton, so their league position when the winter window arrives may be important for Leeds, with plenty of competition around.
Whether or not it is a transfer they wish to revisit also remains to be seen, but the door beginning to crack open for a winter move for the Croatian.
