Leeds United fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Saturday.

Daniel Farke's side were dangerous throughout, and took the lead at the Emirates Stadium through James Justin.

However, Ricardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes stepped up to put Mikel Arteta's side in the lead.

The hosts held on and the Whites walked away with nothing when they deserved more from the contest.

Farke and his charges will have to regroup and put the disappointment behind them for the Manchester United clash next time out.

MOT Leeds News looks at three moments supporters may have missed in the defeat.

Referee and his assistant in Leeds corner confusion

In the eighth minute, it appeared like a chance for the Whites had gone begging when an offside was given.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin appeared to have strayed beyond the defensive line, and the assistant referee flagged.

However, Paul Tierney, who was the man in the middle, gave a corner instead which caused confusion.

Ultimately, he felt like the Peacocks frontman did not have an impact on the play and his decision stood.

Why Daniel Farke was so happy in the early stages

Leeds boss Farke was spotted clapping in the 17th minute of the contest as his side stepped up against defensively.

The Athletic's Beren Cross revealed on X that it was a result of his side catching the Gunners offside so many times.

He said: "Farke applauds as Leeds catch Arsenal offside for a fourth time inside 17 min, hosts have been careless when they have reached the final third."

In combination, both sides were caught offside a total of eight times, the most in a first-half of a Premier League game since Manchester United v Aston Villa in April 2023, which had the same tally.

The record for a full game in the top-flight this season was nine.

Farke confrontation with Leeds staff member revealed after booking

The broadcast on TNT Sports initially appeared unsure of why Farke was booked by referee Tierney.

Commentator Darren Fletcher said: “We are just hearing that Farke might have been shown a yellow card for something that he said, we are just checking that, that has been confirmed.”

However, Cross later clarified on X, and revealed that why the Whites boss had been cautioned and that he had had pushed away Ed Wootten in the argument.

He said: "Farke booked for protests to fourth official, then goes back in for another go, after the yellow, Ed Wootten, GK coach, tries to get between them and Farke shoves him out the way."

That shows that Farke frustration was boiling over, and it will have continued to rise higher after what he saw in the second-half.

For his side to fall apart in the way that they did, he will hope for a bounce back against the Red Devils.
