David Seaman committed one of many football fans' cardinal sins in Arsenal's clash with Leeds United.

The Whites travelled to North London to take on the defending Premier League champions on Saturday.

Daniel Farke's side weren't given much chance of a result by many ahead of kick-off, and that was largely understandable.

However, it looked as though the Whites were on for a memorable day when James Justin put Leeds ahead on 55 minutes.

The Gunners dipped into their sizeable armoury and rallied though, with Riccardo Calafiori and Bruno Guimaraes scoring to seal a 2-1 win.

One of the famous faces in attendance at the Emirates was Seaman, as he took in the match between two of his former teams.

What did David Seaman wear to Arsenal vs Leeds?

Football is a tribal sport, and few places show that greater than in England.

As such, the notion of showing your support for more than one team is one met with overwhelming disgust by the vast majority of fans.

In this respect, one of the worst things an individual can do is wear the colours of two separate teams.

Half-and-half scarves are universally hated by fans, but that didn't put Seaman off wearing an Arsenal-Leeds one to the game on Saturday.

Posting to his X account after the game, the 63-year-old revealed his surprise at the negative response from fans regarding the scarf.

"Can’t believe how much flack I’m getting for my half and half scarf at the Arsenal-Leeds game today," he wrote.

"I’ve got my David Raya one too though."

Did Seaman ever play for Leeds though, and why should fans perhaps ease off on the criticism in this scenario?

What is Seaman's Leeds United story?

When many fans think of Seaman, the first images that will spring to mind for most is him playing for Arsenal.

He made 564 appearances for the Gunners during his 13 years with the club between 1990 to 2003.

Seaman also won 75 caps for England, and it's for these two teams that the legendary goalkeeper's playing career is best remembered for.

But what many people may not know is that he actually started with Leeds, joining his boyhood Whites as an apprentice in 1979.

Eddie Gray was the Leeds manager at the time of his Elland Road exit in 1982, where he left to join Peterborough United.

Seaman never made a competitive appearance for Leeds, but did feature in a handful of pre-season friendlies during his time in LS11.

Because of this, Seaman should be let off for this half-and-half scarf situation, as the connection he has with both clubs is huge.
