Marc Roca Leeds United exit to Real Betis delayed for ‘a few weeks’ amid financial issues

Marc Roca’s expected exit from Leeds United to Real Betis is likely to be delayed for “a few weeks” as they wait on their wage budget, according to Mucho Deporte (13 June).

The Spaniard is set to leave the club on a loan move with an option to buy after the club’s relegation, with the player wanting to play in a top league rather than England’s second division.

Leeds are said to be open to letting him go as he has an option in his deal that allows him to leave on a free loan with the other club paying his wages in full, but Betis right now can’t commit to that as they await on their wage budget to be finalised which could see a deal delayed.

“And with respect to the footballer, everything is going at the right pace, because Betis cannot finish anything until they know how their salary limit is,” they wrote.

“In reality, what Betis is in a hurry is to get the player’s yes, and work on an economically feasible exit, but it is not a problem that the matter is delayed for a few weeks. Leeds himself has more interest in updating.”

No rush

It’s quite clear that Roca isn’t looking to stick around at Elland Road for the new season, and Leeds aren’t too fussed about letting him go.

If we were going to be receiving money for him which could potentially go towards a new deal then it would be a priority to get this deal over the line to help get the summer window kickstarted.

But the truth of the matter is that it isn’t a priority because we still don’t have a manager and the ownership situation isn’t completed yet either.

Until then there is no rush to get paperwork signed off and force through deals, so we’ll keep calm and keep working in the background until Betis come up with the funds to get the deal finalised.

Roca won’t be here next season and the Whites aren’t expecting him to be, so there’s no worry about this deal collapsing so early on in the window.

In other Leeds news, Angus Kinnear is “resigned” to losing this player as the truth of his relegation clause emerged.
