Why Leeds United could still pull plug on Wilfried Gnonto despite agreement

Leeds United have agreed a deal that will see Wilfried Gnonto leave Elland Road this summer.

With only hours left until Tuesday's 11pm deadline, the Whites are not any closer to any signings of their own.

Daniel Farke admitted that his squad isn't deep enough after the 1-1 draw with Brentford, suggesting two new faces are needed.

Despite that, the day before the deadline has started with Fiorentina have agreed a loan-to-buy deal for Gnonto.

But, it may not go through until the very last moment.

This is a disappointing move for Leeds fans, who love the Italian winger for his time at Elland Road.

Many believed he was due more of a chance this season, but that could still be the case.

Gnonto is due to travel to Italy on Monday to complete the formalities of a loan-to-buy move, but it won't be confirmed instantly.

Ben Jacobs has now reported that Leeds will only fully sign off on his exit should they find a replacement themselves.

Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk is the only concrete link to Elland Road right now, but it doesn't appear to be progressing.

Having seen a bid rejected by Chelsea for the Ukranian star, a loan move is currently on hold.

Mudryk is said to have Leeds as a top priority before tomorrow, with Premier League football desired.

After two years out and his doping ban now resolved, there's doubts around whether he could hit the ground running quickly.

Outside of that, Leeds have literally been linked with nobody.

It could be set for yet another hugely disappointing end to a transfer window at Elland Road, but fans are used to that.

After such a positive start with some big-name signings, it could fizzle out.
