Leeds transfer round-up: Harry Gray exit locked in, transfer fee doubles for academy graduate

Published on

Leeds United's transfer business looks set to ramp up amid updates on both incoming and outgoing activity.

Daniel Farke's men have yet to add any new players to their squad this window.

In terms of outgoing activity, Pascal Struijk has joined fellow Premier League team Brighton and Hove Albion.

That has brought in a reported £18million up front for the Whites, which should be invested back into the squad.

And it appears another player is heading for the exit, albeit only on loan as Harry Gray continues his development elsewhere.

Here, MOT Leeds News rounds up all the transfer news coming out of Elland Road over the past 24 hours or so.

Isaac Schmidt could change Leeds' transfer plans

After spending last season on loan with Werder Bremen, Isaac Schmidt is very much a forgotten man at Thorp Arch.

Despite links with a move away once again, the versatile defender remains a Leeds player for now.

And as the 49ers Enterprises walk a financial tightrope, it may well be that Schmidt alters Farke's plans at Leeds.

Players are due back at the training base in a little over a week, meaning Schmidt will have a chance to potentially win over Farke.

Leeds hold advantage for Zion Suzuki

Harry Wilson is the closest player to joining Leeds, and it may well be that Zion Suzuki is not far behind him.

Suzuki was linked with Leeds during the World Cup, where his performances also caught the eyes of others.

Leeds remain the favourites to sign Suzuki, despite Juventus becoming the latest side to show an interest in the goalkeeper.

Suzuki is currently enjoying a break after Japan's World Cup campaign came to an end this week, with a big decision to be made soon.

Leeds know what's best as Gray exit close

Harry Gray is highly thought of at Elland Road and will be a first-team star one day.

For now, though, it is all about the teenage striker gaining experience further down the pyramid.

After spending the second half of last season with Rotherham United, Gray is now heading to Sheffield Wednesday.

The deal is said to be close, with a crucial factor being that the 17-year-old will be playing in front of a passionate home crowd every other week.

Leeds benefit as Charlie Cresswell transfer fee grows

Charlie Cresswell is an example of an academy player unfortunately not making the grade at Leeds.

However, the defender's career is going from strength to strength overseas.

Given the 23-year-old departed Leeds for £3.8m two years ago, the transfer fee the Whites have landed has now almost doubled.

The sell-on clause inserted into the deal is looking like a serious masterstroke right now.
