Harry Wilson spotted with Harry Maguire - could this explain Leeds United transfer delay?

Leeds United fans are still awaiting confirmation of Harry Wilson's arrival more than a week on from news dropping a deal had been struck.

Reports emerged on 24 June that Wilson has agreed to join Leeds following the expiry of his Fulham contract.

However, there has been no official word from Leeds in the 10 days since then.

Leeds fans, having seen something similar in 2019 when a move for Daniel James broke down, are understandably growing a little concerned.

But there may be an innocent reason behind why Wilson has yet to formally be announced.

That is amid the emergence of some images from abroad posted on social media on Friday.

Wilson pulled out of Wales' friendly fixtures in June due to injury, meaning he has not played since the end of the Premier League campaign.

Players at most Premier League clubs are not due back until next week at some point, but Wilson is clearly eager to hit the ground running.

BAS Training, who is a personal trainer based in England, posted images of Wilson being put through his paces in Portugal.

"Another week in the tank," the caption read, with Wilson seen along with the likes of Harry Maguire and James Maddison.

So why exactly is this relevant to Leeds delaying the announcement?

The Yorkshire Evening Post's Graham Smyth said this week Leeds' deal for Wilson is done and there are no fears of it collapsing.

The delay is simply down to Leeds waiting for Wilson to be in the building to complete the formalities.

The versatile forward has been prioritising his fitness abroad, but it may well be that he returns to Britain to get the deal signed.

What's next for Leeds after Wilson confirmation?

Unless Leeds spring a surprise, the Wilson deal will be the first once announced of the summer.

Beyond that, it seems a deal for Zion Suzuki could be close, even if there are more and more teams showing an interest.

Shea Charles is the other name on Leeds' transfer wishlist, but Southampton have knocked back at least one bid.

Leeds will not sweat yet, but deals for Suzuki and Charles need to be struck before long.

If that happens, alongside the Wilson confirmation, then Leeds fans will have plenty to be excited about.
