Leeds United win fierce battle for Harry Wilson as details shared on first summer deal
Leeds United are edging closer to confirming the arrival of Harry Wilson.
The Whites have been in pursuit of the Wales international since last season, albeit seeing a deal collapse at the final hurdle.
Since then, several other Premier League clubs had been reported to have shown an interest, with it at one stage looking as though he was set for Aston Villa.
However, Leeds maintained hope that they could bring him to Elland Road.
New a report from David Ornstein claims that those efforts have been a success, with it said that he is "set to arrive" at Leeds this summer after a "fierce" battle.
A medical has since been booked in for the Fulham star, who looks set to become the first addition of the summer window.
Why has Harry Wilson chose Leeds?
The Whites have attracted some incredibly talented players to Elland Road over the last 12 months, and Wilson will be another to add to the list.
And as for why they have managed to win the race, ambition will have been a part, though his wages will be as well.
Ornstein also adds in the report that the 29-year-old is due to receive a pay rise at Elland Road.
As for what his expected wages will be, that remains unknown, though it is a huge signal of intent from the 49ers.
What can Leeds fans expect from Wilson?
The deal is yet to be confirmed, so in that regard, there has to be some caution.
However, it certainly feels as though it is now a matter of when as opposed to if.
And when that deal is confirmed, Leeds will receive a huge boost to the level of creativity in their squad.
Noah Okafor aside, the Whites have struggled in the wide areas, and Wilson's arrival will change that.
He adds threat from set pieces, and also has the ability to carve something out of nothing, as showcased by the fact that he created 39 chances in the Premier League last season.
Given the competition that Leeds will have had to fight off to win the race, it's almost certain that he will become one of the first names on the teamsheet.
