Why Leeds may have to replicate James Trafford deal if Roony Bardghji agreement is to be struck

Leeds United are closing in on James Trafford as their third signing of the summer, with Roony Bardghji potentially next to follow.

After landing Harry Wilson on a free contract and Tarik Muharemovic for £34million, Trafford's move will ramp up Leeds' summer business a notch.

As covered by MOT Leeds News, Trafford is expected to cost Leeds £45m and could be announced at some point this week.

Leeds will then likely turn focus to adding to their attacking options with a month of the transfer window still to run.

Bardghji has been strongly linked with a move to Elland Road this summer and remains a target

But if Leeds are to strike a deal, they may have to accept Barcelona's terms.

Bardghji is being let go by Barcelona following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.

Leeds have been credited with an interest in Bardghji, who could be available on an initial loan.

Barca are also prepared to let the Sweden international depart permanently, but it comes with a catch.

As per an update from Spanish outlet Sport on Sunday, Barcelona would look to include a buy-back clause in that agreement.

It is similar to what Manchester City want to include in Trafford's contract at Leeds.

That may be the price worth paying, however, if it means seeing off competition for the exciting young talent's signature.

Why Barcelona want Bardghji deal done right now

Barcelona set a deadline of 27 July for Bardghji's future to be resolved.

That is due to the Catalan giants now being back in full tram training ahead of the start of their upcoming campaign.

Well that deadline is now here and the youngster still remains at Camp Nou.

Sport's report indicated that Brighton look to be the potential frontrunners for Bardghji should Yankuba Minteh depart the Amex Stadium.

That only adds more incentive for Leeds to move now for Bardghji if he is indeed a target.

Whatever the terms of the agreement, this seems like for too good an opportunity to turn down.
