Leeds United transfer round-up: James Trafford update shared, new striker target emerges

Published on

Leeds United continue to advance in talks to sign James Trafford from Manchester City, but a deal is not as close as some may believe.

Trafford is widely expected to become Leeds' third signing of the summer, following the earlier arrivals of Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic.

The England international will cost Leeds up to £45million, with reports emerging on Monday that he had flown into Leeds Bradford Airport.

However, clarity has now been provided on those reports.

And further updates have also emerged regarding Leeds' search for a new striker.

MOT Leeds News rounds up all the big transfer news emerging out of Elland Road across the past 24 hours.

Leeds may have to replicate James Trafford deal for Roony Bardghji

Barcelona youngster Roony Bardghji has been linked on and off with Leeds for a number of weeks now.

The Catalan giants are prepared to let Bardghji depart just a year after he arrived at Camp Nou.

A loan deal is possible, but fresh reports on Monday suggest Barca could let him leave permanently.

However, if Leeds are to sign Bardghji permanently then they will need to accept a buy-back clause for Barca.

That is similar to what Manchester City are hoping for with Trafford's move to West Yorkshire.

Leeds could be about to get Yacine Titraoui intel

Yacine Titraoui is another talent from abroad to have been linked with Leeds.

Olympiacos are said to be readying a bid in the region of £6m, which will give Leeds a better indicator of how much Charleroi truly want for the midfielder.

Leeds advance in James Trafford talks

Graham Smyth reported via X on Monday that reports of Trafford flying in to complete his move to Leeds were wide of the mark.

However, the deal is still progressing along.

Leeds could still announce Trafford this week, with the deal reported to be worth £45m.

Carlos Espi a new name on Leeds' list

Once a deal for Trafford is over the line, a new striker may well be next on the agenda.

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth also reported on Monday that Levante ace Carlos Espi is on Leeds' transfer radar.

The youngster was named LaLiga Player of the Month for March and is clearly a very hot talent.

Exactly how much Leeds would need to bid for Espi, however, is unknown at this point.
