Gabriel Gudmundsson has been linked with a surprise exit from Leeds United.

The Swedish international had been a key player for Daniel Farke last season, and that has seemingly brought on interest from Chelsea.

The Whites will ultimately want to keep a player who holds so much importance for the German's style.

However, if an offer too difficult to reject does arrive, Leeds have already done plenty of work in eyeing their next left-back.

And Farke will certainly have his fingerprints over any deal to replace a player who has quickly become one of his favoured squad members, having featured 35 times in all competitions last season.

Now, here is a round-up of the potential names to keep an eye on should the Gudmundsson to Chelsea news move further along.

Are Leeds advanced in talks for any left-back?

As stated, Leeds have been linked with numerous left-backs over the past few months, and reading through the lines, they may have foresaw interest in Gudmundsson.

If that is the case, the proactiveness of the LS11 side will do serve them well.

One of the names on the list is Gudmundsson's international teammate Daniel Svensson.

Bild had reported on Leeds' interest back in February, but the Swede has had long-term admirers in Yorkshire.

The Whites had tracked the fullback since he was at FC Nordsjaelland back in 2024.

Another potential Gudmundsson replacement is Zaidu Sanusi, who is set to leave Porto with his contract expiring.

The Portuguese side want to keep the Nigerian and a contract extension is on the table. However, little has emerged on that front and Leeds could return back for him.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo had reported the Whites made an attempt for the 29-year-old in January, but their approach was rebuffed.

Manager Farioli later confirmed an offer was sent, stating: "He had a good opportunity to move to the Premier League in January."

Finally, Mauro Junior is another name to keep an eye on. The PSV defender has been linked via Voetbal International.

Reports suggested he has a release clause that would allow him to leave the Eredivisie side and the Whites have enquired with the player's representatives.

Overall, the LS11 outfit are not short of options, but there has been nothing too advanced in terms of signing another left-back.

Who would be the best option for Leeds?

Out of those three players, Svensson feels like the obvious and most impressive option.

The Swede (24) is also younger than both Sanusi (29) and Mauro Junior (27) and lands perfectly in the age range the Whites have been targeting.

However, that transfer strategy is seemingly being ripped up this window as Harry Wilson edges closer to Elland Road.

Nonetheless, Svensson would provide a better resale value should things ultimately not work out at Elland Road, and that would limit risk over a transfer.

However, it would also not be much of a surprise if none of those three names become the option for Leeds at left-back, with the potential for more names to emerge.
