Leeds United are making their moves early in the transfer market this year.

The Whites are inching closer to the arrival of Harry Wilson on a free transfer while the pursuit of Shea Charles is ongoing.

Wide areas and midfield appears to be the first focus, but the goalkeeper area is still another that could be improved.

Karl Darlow is still edging closer to becoming a free agent, despite Leeds wanting to keep the Welshman, but James Trafford could be one name to move to LS11.

A deal for the Manchester City goalkeeper may have to wait, but there is plenty of talk on social media over his possible arrival.

However, he is a player of much interest with details of how easily a deal could be made.

How quickly could Leeds do a deal for James Trafford?

With the future of Darlow still uncertain and Lucas Perri failing to impress, a new goalkeeper arriving at Elland Road would not be a surprise.

And, according to Graham Smyth, Trafford is still a player that the Whites have on their list.

However, a deal to sign Trafford is not viewed as "easy" and could be one that takes quite a bit of time to do.

Smyth shares that he "wouldn't see Trafford as an easy get at all" amid the links for the Englishman.

Another complication to getting a deal completed for the 23-year-old is that he is away at the World Cup.

While transfers have been going through despite the international tournament, Leeds would have to send out doctors to complete a medical in the United States of America.

But, there does still remain hope that a transfer could be completed, but expectations over a quick negotiation should be tempered.

Could Enzo Maresca complicate a transfer for Trafford?

Enzo Maresca has yet to be announced as Manchester City's next manager but it has been widely reported he will be in the Etihad dugout.

When it comes to Trafford's future, there is certainly reason for complications to emerge.

The Italian prefers his goalkeepers to be confident and have the skills to play with the ball at their feet.

Gianliuigi Donnarumma, while regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, does lack in this department.

But Pep Guardiola did abandon his need for a ball-playing goalkeeper in order to sign the Italian, so perhaps Maresca will sacrifice that quality as well.

Nonetheless, a transfer may also have to wait until the upcoming City manager makes a full assessment of his squad.
