Karl Darlow faces an important period in Leeds United talks after links to Manchester United.

The 35-year-old featured as the number one at Elland Road for the most part of last season.

Despite the addition of Lucas Perri from Lyon, the Wales international made his presence felt once again.

He featured 22 times in the Premier League and certainly helped the Whites avoid relegation.

That could well be the end of his story in LS11 as a move away could be possible at the end of his current deal.

Man United remain interested as Darlow has a decision to make as the dialogue around his future continues.

Daniel Farke's side are continuing their efforts to sign Harry Wilson on a free transfer from Fulham.

That would certainly be a coup, but talks with Fulham shouldn't take concentration away from the shot-stopper.

Darlow was key for the Whites and is edging closer to the edge of his contract and is attracting interest.

The Sun reported on Wednesday that Man United are still in the race to land the Welshman's signature.

They're on the hunt for a new number two as they prepare to wave goodbye to Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

The Red Devils are also looking at Angus Gunn after his release from Nottingham Forest.

With Man United looking at another option, it could force Darlow to make an imminent decision about his future at Elland Road.

What can Leeds United offer Darlow in last-gasp contract talks?

There are certainly pros and cons of both potential moves for the Leeds keeper this summer.

A move to Old Trafford would allow him to feature for a side in the Champions League with the potential of playing as a number two to Senne Lammens.

On the flip side, he could maintain his spot at Leeds as number one regardless of what business Farke and Co. do in the coming weeks and months.

Farke can guarantee a certain level of minutes and a pay increase, that may help to seal the deal.

Darlow is reportedly paid £30,000 per week at Elland Road right now, so increasing that to over the £35,000 mark may prove wise.

Leeds can't afford to lose first-team stars this summer, so anything they can do to keep the squad together will be important.

Darlow isn't the only goalkeeper the Whites are making efforts to keep hold of, either, with The Athletic journalist Beren Cross reporting on Tuesday that Alex Cairns has verbally agreed a new two-year contract that takes effect on 1 July.
