Man United weigh up Karl Darlow transfer as Leeds feelings revealed
Manchester United are reportedly mulling over a move for Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
The 35-year-old wasn't tipped for a much larger role than the number two at Elland Road last season, with Lucas Perri arriving to claim the starting position.
However, the Brazilian endured a challenging debut campaign in West Yorkshire, with Daniel Farke eventually dropping him at the start of 2026.
Darlow evolved into Leeds' number one shot-stopper as a result, and his performances have seemingly caught the attention of rival clubs looking for a goalkeeping bargain.
That's because the Wales international is out of contract with the Whites at the end of this month, leaving his future firmly up in the air.
And now, pressure appears to have been applied on Leeds to take contract action on their veteran keeper.
Leeds want Karl Darlow to stay as Man Utd ready move
Whilst he's not a long-term option for Leeds due to his age, Darlow certainly proved last season that he's still got enough left in the tank to be a quality option for them between the sticks.
It would seem that other clubs would feel that way about the Welshman if he was in their team as well, as Elland Road chiefs prepare for contract competition.
A report from The Athletic has claimed that bitter rivals Man United are exploring the possibility of a move for Darlow this summer.
It's reported that the Red Devils are looking for a veteran backup option in goal, and so the potential to sign Darlow on a free could make a lot of sense for them.
However, the report also claims that Leeds do indeed wish to keep hold of him beyond this summer, and that fresh terms are expected to be offered.
Would Man Utd be a good move for Darlow?
Seeing a quality performer leave Elland Road for Old Trafford would hurt the Leeds faithful, and that will no doubt be in Darlow's mind if and when the Red Devils make their move.
And whilst the allure of what comes with being a Man United player would attract the vast majority of players, it may not be a wise move for Darlow.
Senne Lammens is set as their number one goalkeeper for the foreseeable future, and Altay Bayindir is still contracted with them until next summer.
Should Darlow remain with Leeds, however, he's more than likely to retain his starting gloves for next season, in what has the potential to be a big campaign for the Whites.
Therefore, when weighing up the pros and cons, there are certainly more than enough advantages of sticking with Leeds to convince him to snub any Old Trafford approach.
