Igor Paixao's future at Marseille has been a strong topic this summer amid Leeds United interest.

The winger has long been a player wanted by Daniel Farke at Elland Road with links first appearing last summer.

With Marseille's ongoing financial worries, the chance to scoop up the South American forward has been emerging.

The Whites are in the market for another wide attacker, as shown by their interest in taking Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk on loan.

However, Mudryk to Leeds now looks unlikely after the latest bid rejection.

But a move for Paixao may be looked at again, with a reduction in price seemingly on the cards.

How much have Marseille reduced Igor Paixao's price by?

Leeds United may have previously felt outpriced over a move for Paixao earlier in the summer.

Marseille owner Frank McCourt was looking for £42.7million to sell the forward, but that stance has now seemed to change.

According to the print edition of La Provence, the Ligue 1 club are now seeking much less than that valuation.

In fact, he could be purchased for exactly what Marseille originally purchased him for.

They share that "several sources close to the matter" believe that a total of £25.7m plus £4.3m would be enough to secure Paixao's exit.

The report once again mentions Leeds as an interested party in taking the 26-year-old this summer.

But Sunderland are looking to sign Paixao as well, with a bid already rejected from Marseille, with Aston Villa lurking as well.

So, it may not be an easy transfer battle for the LS11 outfit with those two Premier League sides in Europe this season.

How can Leeds win race against fellow Premier League rivals for Paixao?

One thing going for Leeds in the race for Paixao is their longstanding interest and that could help them.

The Brazilian will be appreciative of how highly Elland Road officials rate him, as they have held interest over two summer windows.

That could give them a leg up over the likes of Sunderland or Aston Villa, even with those two sides competing in European competition.

Farke also clearly has an idea in place for the South American should he arrive, seeing as this is a two-year transfer chase.

Leeds may not be out of the battle yet, but they will need to move quick to sign him.
