Leeds United have been looking into the prospect of taking Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan

The Ukrainian is looking for his way back into professional football after his ban was lifted.

His last game in a competitive nature came in November 2024 for Chelsea.

The Blues do not have space for Mudryk this season, but they also do not want to see him leave on a permanent deal yet.

Opening the door for a team like Leeds to try and swoop in to temporarily add the 28-cap Ukraine international to their squad.

It is a transfer that has been bubbling away over the last few days, with the Whites now seemingly getting a final answer.

Where Leeds now stand in loan pursuit of Mykhailo Mudryk

Leeds have been pushing to sign Mudryk this summer with one bid already rejected.

Then, reports earlier on 24 August suggested Leeds were preparing another bid for Mudryk.

Now, the answer to that offer has been relayed as well as Leeds' current position in the hunt.

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea have now rejected that second loan offer from Leeds United for Mudryk.

And that also appears to be the end of the road for the Whites in their pursuit of the Ukrainian as well.

He shares that Chelsea no long consider Leeds an option for the forward with a number of other clubs in the Premier League and throughout Europe there too.

Now, with Leeds seemingly wanting to add another forward to their ranks, they will have to look elsewhere in the market.

Where could Leeds look next after Mudryk chase?

The move for Mudryk suggests that Leeds do feel another winger is needed at Elland Road.

However, this summer there have been few links for players in that position.

One of the main ones was Igor Paixao, but there has been no formal enquiries for the South American yet.

Marseille were also anticipating an offer from Saudi Arabia, with the winger having a price set at £42.8million.

That price is quite steep for the LS11 outfit to fork out and that is likely to make a deal prove difficult.

The 49ers could now look to move elsewhere in the market but with little left to go before the deadline, they will have to be quick.

It could be a busy end to the window for Leeds as they continue to try add names to Daniel Farke's squad.
