Harry Wilson announcement set at Leeds - there could be one big winner

Published on

Harry Wilson is set to be announced as a Leeds United player on Wednesday in a move that could benefit one of his new team-mates.

A year after the Whites missed out on a deal for the Wales international, they are finally about to land him as a free agent.

The left-footed attacker had other offers on the table, but Leeds have won the race for Wilson's signature.

Due to the fact he is arriving on a Bosman, the 29-year-old is expected to be on high wages at Elland Road.

Wilson will become the latest Welshman to represent Leeds, along with current crop Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Daniel James - and possibly Karl Darlow.

The signing will instantly enhance Leeds out wide, which is great news for those playing more centrally.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin to lick his lips at Harry Wilson arrival

The Yorkshire Evening Post's print edition reports that Wilson will be announced by on Wednesday.

Wilson scored 10 goals for Fulham in the Premier League last season and also assisted seven more.

He averaged over one key pass per game, so that figure could potentially have been higher if his teammates had put them away.

That is something Dominic Calvert-Lewin will now be looking to do this coming season.

Calvert-Lewin can be more than happy with his goals return in his maiden campaign at Elland Road, having scored 14 times in the league.

With Wilson - hailed as "exceptional" by Robert Snodgrass - supplying the ammo, there is every chance Calvert-Lewin could improve on that tally this coming campaign.

What is behind Wilson announcement delay?

In an ideal world, Wilson would have already been announced as a Leeds player.

A deal was said to have been struck a few weeks back now, but silence followed.

However, it has since been reported that Wilson has been training abroad to keep himself fit.

Wilson missed Wales' friendlies in June through injury, so the versatile attacker clearly wants to hit the ground running in West Yorkshire.

That can only be good news for Leeds, who now appear to be just hours away from that elusive first summer signing.
