Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has been answering questions about Leeds United-linked James Trafford.

The England goalkeeper is reportedly on the cusp of making the move from the Etihad Stadium to Elland Road.

Leeds have been in desperate need of a new goalkeeper during the summer transfer window.

Karl Darlow was first choice for the second half of last season, but has now joined rivals Manchester United on a free transfer.

Illan Meslier left on a free transfer, as expected, and has now joined Arsenal, while Lucas Perri is likely to leave if Trafford gets over the line.

Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium this summer, was asked about Trafford by the media on Tuesday.

What did Enzo Maresca say about James Trafford?

Trafford will become Leeds' record signing if the numbers being bandied around are true.

The Citizens are said to be bringing in Geronimo Rulli from Marseille to replace Trafford, who was only brought back to the club last summer.

Maresca was coy about both deals when asked about them, stating that as yet nothing was officially signed and sealed.

In quotes reported by the Manchester Evening News, Maresca said: "There are no updates yet.

"James is still a City player and Rulli is still a Marseille player so we’ll wait on the next days."

It still feels a matter of time before Leeds get the deal over the line and nail down a solution between the sticks.

So, talk will inevitably turn to who else will follow through the door at Thorp Arch after Trafford.

What else do Leeds United need this summer?

It has been an ambitious window for Leeds so far, but they still need more bodies in the door.

So far, Harry Wilson has joined on a free transfer from Fulham, and £34m was forked out to sign Tarik Muharemovic from Sassuolo.

Even with the impending arrival of Trafford, Leeds are likely to need more goalkeeper cover with Perri on the way out.

A left-back to cover for Gabriel Gundmundsson would be ideal, while it is little secret Daniel Farke wants another forward.

An offer for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles remains on the table, too, though that pursuit seems to have gone a little cold lately.
