Kalvin Phillips was loving it as Leeds United crushed Newcastle on Monday evening at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke was delighted as Leeds went third in the Premier League with a 4-1 victory.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin thought he had scored twice, but his header deflected off Jayden Bogle for the latter to be credited.

An own-goal and Noah Okafor finished things off, with only a consolation at the very end to take away the clean sheet.

Phillips was clearly watching while on loan at Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United again from Manchester City.

And it's fair to say, he had zero complaints.

What did Kalvin Phillips message Calvert-Lewin?

There was a party atmosphere around Elland Road on Monday.

It continued through the match, after it and well through the night, with the Leeds squad delighted.

As usual, the players took to social media to celebrate the win with their selected images, with Calvert-Lewin joking about his 'two' goals on Instagram.

With pictures of his two celebrations and the scenes after Okafor's goal, there were plenty hailing him in the comments.

Phillips was one of those, sending a selection of loveheart eye emojis.

As well as the Yorkshire Pirlo, teammates Gabriel Gudmundsson, Michael Zetterer and Anton Stach all sent their own messages too.

Pascal Struijk, Willy Gnonto, Illan Meslier and Joel Piroe were also caught liking the post, as they keep an eye on Leeds.

When Kalvin Phillips almost re-joined Leeds

This isn't a one-off, with the possibility raised several times since Farke took over at Elland Road.

Phillips was at Wembley as Leeds lost the Championship play-off final against Southampton three seasons ago.

It was said that the midfielder had basically everything agreed to move back to LS11, if they were promoted that day.

As much as we would have loved that, Leeds possibly dodged a bullet.

What followed was failed loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich instead, filled with red cards and lack of minutes.

Now, after two spells with Sheffield United, it's hard to say that Phillips simply isn't a Premier League player anymore.

It never worked out after he left for the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola certainly not helping that.

Nobody at Leeds will forget those days with Phillips under Marcelo Bielsa, and it's great to see that he still follows his club with great love and affection.
