Why Pandora's box has been opened as Igor Paixao to Leeds United transfer latest revealed

Igor Paixao is one name that refuses to go away at Leeds United.

This was a transfer saga that started in 2025 after Daniel Farke led the Whites back to the Premier League.

For many weeks, it appeared that Paixao would become the marquee signing at Elland Road from Feyenoord.

Instead, the Brazilian opted to make the move to France with Marseille, but that hasn't seen transfer links disappear.

But, the drama continues with Leeds now heavily linked with another move for Paixao after surviving relegation from the Premier League.

Paixao's wife has only added to that drama.

What has Igor Paixao's wife done to fuel exit talk?

It's the talk of the town, especially in Marseille.

Taking to Instagram, she captioned a picture of the Velodrome Stadium with, "It will remain forever in my heart."

It came days after it was revealed that Leeds were still in the race to sign Paixao this summer, but not as their prime target.

Now, French newspaper La Provence has shared the latest on a possible exit after the social media bombsell.

Writing in their print edition on 5 August, it's stated that an exit for Paixao isn't imminent, regardless of his wife's post which opened "Pandora's box".

Leeds are mentioned, however, with their interest still strong.

Do Leeds need Igor Paixao?

The Brazilian would upgrade the quality in their squad, but he isn't desperately needed.

Leeds have spent big so far this summer, with James Trafford set to take their net spend to around £50million.

That follows several exits and the signings of Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic at Elland Road.

Given Marseille want over £40m for Paixao to make profit, it feels unlikely that it's seen as a priority transfer right now.

Another option in the final third would help, but bigger priorities, like another striker and more cover in defence is likely seen as more urgent.

Noah Okafor enjoyed a sensational first season in LS11, which helps, and the Swiss star is set to return to training this week, too.

If he can replicate that form, along with Wilson hitting the ground running, another winger will likely be forgotten about soon.
