Why Lassine Sinayoko has refused to train as Leeds United plot transfer
Leeds United have been heavily linked with Lassine Sinayoko this summer, and he's taking drastic action.
Currently at Auxerre, Sinayoko fired the French club back to Ligue 1 two years ago and helped them survive comfortably again last season.
That comes with added speculation, with Leeds one of many to take a look at the striker in recent weeks.
Daniel Farke wants to improve his squad in the final third, something which started with the marquee signing of Harry Wilson.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha took the Premier League by storm last season as free agents, but many feel another option is needed.
Sinayoko could be that man exactly.
Why is Lassine Sinayoko on strike?
MOT Leeds News has previously shared that Leeds could sign Sinayoko for only £12.9million this summer.
The Whites have already made an approach, but it appears that it won't be as straightforward to get a deal done.
Sebastien Denis of Foot Mercato has now reported that Sinayoko is refusing to training with Auxerre.
It is said that last summer, the president signed a document to guarantee an exit if a satisfactory offer came in.
That has arrived, but the boardroom is backpedalling, leaving Sinayoko feeling betrayed.
It's unknown whether that offer is from Leeds, but either way, the striker is more set than ever on an exit now.
Why Lassine Sinayoko makes perfect sense for Leeds
Farke and the 49ers don't need to break the bank for another striker.
Calvert-Lewin will be the main man when fit, he has proven to be an absolute bargain already and is worth far more than most believe.
So, add another workhorse to the mix and you're laughing.
Leeds prioritise physicality in their new signings right now, but Sinayoko is so much more than that.
More of a dribbler, the Malian forward loves to cut inside and work his magic on the ball, rather than compete for aerial duels.
Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha can do that, so having the dynamic of Sinayoko, who can interchange with the likes of Wilson sounds brilliant.
Leeds are smartly tracking players who can feature in several different positions, just look at Shea Charles for example.
Sinayoko and Wilson can play across the front three if required, so having that ability to rotate around last season's stars is perfect.
Signing Sinayoko while not breaking the bank as he tries to force his way out of Auxerre can unlock so much more for the Whites in this market.
It may be the perfect time to make their move.
