What's next for Leeds United as Nico Elvedi transfer update shared
Leeds United are seemingly on the cusp of completing a deal to sign Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi.
Daniel Farke is in need of defensive reinforcement with Sebastiaan Bornauw set to move to Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
Elvedi, 29, has long-been linked with a move to Leeds and has previously played for Farke when he was coach at Gladbach.
Reports in recent days have said that the deal has been accelerating, with Leeds clearly keen to strengthen in defence.
Tarik Muharemovic has already arrived in the close season, as Leeds sought a replacement for Pascal Struijk.
And it could be the case that they have another central defender in the door soon in the form of Switzerland international Elvedi.
What's the latest with Leeds United and Nico Elvedi?
It was reported earlier on Saturday that Leeds had hit a complication in their bid to sign Elvedi.
The main cause seemed to centre of two factors, namely that Leeds had not yet met Gladbach's valuation and the fact the Bundesliga outfit wanted to find a replacement.
However, it now appears that things have taken a step forward thanks to a cryptic post by Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg reported earlier this week that Elvedi has agreed a three-year contract to move to Elland Road.
He has now quoted his own post from two days ago with four emojis: A siren, an arrow with soon underneath, a closed lock with key emoji, and the Swiss national flag.
It hints at the fact that Leeds are now close on making their latest addition during the transfer window.
What else do Leeds United need this summer?
Leeds have had a decent transfer window thus far.
Harry Wilson arrived on a free transfer from Fulham to kick things off, before Leeds forked out £34million to sign Muharemovic.
The Whites then agreed a club-record transfer to sign James Trafford from Manchester City.
However, with Lucas Perri looking certain to depart then Farke needs some cover for the England goalkeeper.
He would also like another left-back, given there is not much cover on that side for Gabriel Gudmundsson.
New forwards are also on Leeds' radar, with a new striker and/or versatile attacking midfielder on Farke's wish list.
