What Monchengladbach's latest call on Nico Elvedi tells us amid Leeds transfer delay
Borussia Monchengladbach have already started preparing for life without Leeds United-bound Nico Elvedi.
Leeds have already agreed a deal with Gladbach for the centre-back, who will replace Sebastiaan Bornauw in the squad.
Bornauw is himself on the verge of joining Hamburg - one of Gladbach's Bundesliga rivals.
It has been reported Leeds will pay an initial £6.8million for vastly experienced defender Elvedi.
A delay to the deal may have raised some eyebrows, but it does not look as though anything will prevent it going through at this stage.
And that is more evident than ever amid a decision now taken by German side Gladbach.
Gladbach take next steps as Nico Elvedi exit nears
Elvedi is believed to have already undergone a Leeds medical, with that the last step before a transfer is announced.
And Gladbach have no intention of selecting Elvedi for their DFB-Pokal first-round clash with Schott Mainz on the weekend.
That is according to Wednesday's print edition of Bild, who add that head coach Eugen Polanski will instead select Jan Leszczynski.
It is also reported by the German publication that Gladbach have identified Diogo Leite as a "dream solution", though they accept that may not be realistic.
Either way, Elvedi appears to have played his last game for the the Foals ahead of joining Leeds.
But once that deal is in place, what will be next for Leeds' transfer business?
Do Leeds have more money to spend after Elvedi deal?
Leeds fans will certainly hope so, even after spending big to sign both James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic this summer.
Harry Wilson may have arrived from Fulham as a free agent, meanwhile, but his wages are expected to be pretty high.
However, the good news is that Leeds may have a further £50m-plus to spend from this stage on.
A new striker would be welcome, with Burnley's Zian Flemming seemingly a name back on Leeds' radar.
There are now just two weeks of the window left to run, so fingers crossed that business can be concluded soon.
