Nico Elvedi is finally set to join Leeds United, but not everybody is happy about that.

Having been at Borussia Monchengladbach for over a decade, the Swiss star will move to Elland Road.

Elvedi crossed paths with Daniel Farke during that time, and will reunite with his old boss in the Premier League.

If all goes well, both deals could be announced as soon as Monday.

Farke and the Whites would be delighted, but it appears that everybody at Monchengladbach is the complete opposite.

Everything was done to keep Nico Elvedi

Loyalty is a rare thing is football, but Elvedi has given that and more to Monchengladbach over the years.

Signing from Basel back in 2015, he is the first name that springs to mind when you think of the Bundesliga side.

After being linked with Leeds and Farke for over two years now, he will finally get his move to Elland Road.

But, according to the Rheinische Post, Eugen Polanski "tried everything" to keep Elvedi in Germany.

The German newspaper reported in its print edition on Monday that the Polish manager drew a special joker to appoint the defender as his vice-captain.

Described as "no use", Elvedi will still sign for Leeds.

Leeds seal immediate upgrade for Daniel Farke

With Bornauw heading back to the Bundesliga, the Whites are improving their squad

The Belgian arrived from Wolfsburg after promotion to the Premier League, but had suffered injuries and incosistent form before.

Now, after surviving in the Premier League with ease, Leeds have upgraded their targets immediately.

Elvedi has been in the Bundesliga for 11 years, playing at the highest level and comes off the back of a shining World Cup with Switzerland.

He will join Tarik Muharemovic, Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol as central defensive options, which is brilliant.

Seeing established big-name players turn down other offers and big incentives to make the move to Leeds shows just how big they are.

And with two weeks still to go in the transfer window, expect much more activity like this from the 49ers and Co.
