What Leeds United have pledged as door ajar for Wilfried Gnonto exit

Leeds United are open to letting Wilfried Gnonto leave before the transfer window closes, but only on one condition.

Gnonto has emerged as a late-window target for Fiorentina, with the deadline set for 11pm on Tuesday.

The Italian winger has struggled for regular starts under Daniel Farke since Leeds returned to the Premier League last year.

Farke has yet to use Gnonto this season, suggesting he is not part of his plans.

However, Leeds will only allow Gnonto to leave on their own terms amid a new update shared on Saturday evening.

What must happen for Leeds to sanction Gnonto exit?

Gnonto was an important squad option for Farke last season, even if not a regular starter.

And according to Sky Sports' live transfer blog, Leeds will only let the 22-year-old leave on the condition that they first bring in a replacement.

Fiorentina are named as the team looking the most likely to sign Gnonto, who was once hailed by Italy boss Roberto Mancini as a player who could "do everything".

The former FC Zurich attacker has yet to play professionally in his Italian homeland.

He has made 147 appearances for Leeds in all competitions, including 46 the season before last when the Whites earned promotion.

Who could Leeds sign to replace Gnonto?

For all the wide players linked this summer, there is one obvious option out there right now.

Mykhailo Mudryk continues to be linked with Leeds, despite the Whites already having a couple of loan offers rejected.

It is reported that Leeds are not yet giving up hope of signing Mudryk, with that deal now linked to Gnonto's future in West Yorkshire.

Gnonto deserves to be playing regularly elsewhere, while Mudryk - even if many will disagree - is a decent replacement on the face of it.
