Leeds United have not given up hope of signing Mykhailo Mudryk from Chelsea just yet.

The Ukraine international was first touted as a surprise target for the Whites last week.

Daniel Farke's side appeared to be ready to walk away from talks over Mudryk at that point.

But that may not be the case judging by a new update emerging on Saturday evening.

What's now been reported on Leeds move for Mykhailo Mudryk?

Mudryk has not played a competitive game at any level since November 2024.

That is due to the winger being hit with a ban regarding doping violations, which was lifted earlier this summer.

Despite the 25-year-old being available, he does not appear to have a future at Chelsea - at least not in the short-term.

Now, according to an update via talkSPORT's Ben Jacobs on X, Mudryk's preference is to stay in English football.

He has the option of joining Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg, but that does not appear to be in his thinking.

Jacobs adds that Leeds have not ruled out making another offer - likely to be another loan one, though it is not specified - after an impasse in talks last weekend.

Other Premier League teams are also interested in handing the former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker a lifeline.

Is Mudryk really worth Leeds pursuing?

On the face of it, it may seem strange that Leeds are so intent on signing Mudryk.

He has underwhelmed in his time at Chelsea - when available, that is - but it must be remembered what a talent he was.

Indeed, Mudryk was hailed by former teammate Ivan Litovka for his "unreal pace", which he still has.

Mudryk would definitely provide something a little difference for Farke in the wider areas

Used as a squad option, he could come in and out of the side.

And best of all, he will not cost a fee, albeit his wages are not likely to be cheap.

If Leeds feel he is worth pursuing right until the window closes, then it may well be that they are best placed to get a deal over the line given this latest update.
