What Leeds United fans need to know as first offer ready for Tarik Muharemovic
Leeds United are ready to step up their pursuit of Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic.
The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has emerged as a leading target for Leeds in the past few days.
Daniel Farke is keen to boost his defensive options after Pascal Struijk was sold to Brighton earlier in the transfer window.
That leaves the German with Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon, and Sebastiaan Bornauw as his primary options at centre-back.
Leeds are facing strong competition for former Juventus defender Muharemovic, with the Whites pushing hard.
And now a new update suggests there could be imminent movement from Leeds' side to try and get the transfer sealed.
What is Leeds' next move in Muharemovic pursuit?
MOT Leeds News has previously covered reports that Leeds are ready to offer Muharemovic a deal until 2031 worth around £2.9million per year.
The interest in Muharemovic is strong, with Sunderland and Bournemouth - who can both offer European football - said to be pushing hard, too.
Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest, so Leeds are well aware they will need to act swiftly to win this race.
Indeed, 1 Station Radio and OcwSport journalist Luca Cerchione has provided an update that will be music to fans of Leeds fans.
The Italian wrote on Monday that Leeds could put forward their first official offer for Muharemovic on Tuesday.
How much will Muharemovic cost Leeds?
There have been conflicting reports on how much it will take to land Muharemovic this summer.
But, it is thought that it will take at least £34m (€40m) because Juventus own a 50 per cent sell-on clause from when they sold the 23-year-old to Sassuolo.
Juve want to bank around £17m if Muharemovic moves on this summer, so Leeds know they will have to part with a significant sum to get this one done.
He is, though, a player with an extremely high ceiling, and someone who you expect would provide huge quality at the centre of defence.
If Leeds can get this one done, it could represent an excellent piece of business as they aim to improve on last season's 14th-place finish in the Premier League.
