Leeds United are still battling to complete the signing of Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic.

The Bosnian defender has emerged as a leading contender for Leeds to improve their options in the centre of defence.

Daniel Farke is keen to add to his options after Pascal Struijk was sold to Brighton for £20million earlier in the window.

That leaves Leeds with only Jaka Bijol, Joe Rodon, and Sebastiaan Bornauw as options at centre-back, with Farke having utilised a three-man defence for much of the previous campaign.

Muharemovic is a 17-cap Bosnia and Herzegovina international, who is drawing plenty of rival interest for his signature.

And it now looks like Juventus could be crucial to the price it will take to land the 23-year-old.

Why could Juventus drive up Tarik Muharemovic price?

MOT Leeds News has previously covered claims that Sassuolo want as much as £30m for Muharemovic.

That would represent an outlay of £10m more than they received for Struijk, who was entering the last year of his contract at Elland Road.

However, TV Dello Sport journalist Alfredo Pudella revealed that Juventus are hoping to drive the fee up to around £34m.

The Bianconeri retain a 50 per cent sell on clause after allowing their former Juve Next Gen defender to join Sassuolo on a full transfer.

Consequently, they want to bank around £17.5m (€20m) if Sassuolo allow him to move on this summer.

He added that an auction could now be on for teams interested in the Premier League, with Bournemouth and Sunderland also interested.

When could Leeds seal Muharemovic transfer?

There have been several reports that Leeds are ready to blow their rivals out of the water for Muharemovic.

Indeed, Leeds are said to have already offered verbal terms to the Bosnian defender in a bid to beat off competition for his signature.

Leeds are pushing to get a deal done this week, as they look to press on with their transfer plans this window.

Harry Wilson has arrived on a free transfer from Fulham, while Shea Charles is another prominent target.

Julian Brandt and Zion Suzuki have also been linked, and Leeds are keen to get some deals over the line as soon as possible.
