What it means for Leeds United as possible spanner in works for Lucas Perri exit

Lucas Perri's expected move from Leeds United to Torino may have had a spanner thrown in the works.

The Brazilian joined Leeds from Lyon in a deal reportedly worth £15.6million just a year ago.

However, the 28-year-old endured a difficult maiden campaign at Elland Road, and found himself usurped by Karl Darlow.

Darlow has now moved to rivals Manchester United on a free transfer, and Perri is expected to depart at some point during the window.

Leeds are still waiting to officially sign James Trafford from Manchester City, so his exit will not yet be ratified.

But, there is now a hint that Perri's move to Torino might not be the sure thing it once appeared to be.

MOT Leeds News has covered that Leeds are closing in on the £40million-plus signing of Trafford.

Once that deal is signed and sealed, it is expected that Perri will be granted permission to depart West Yorkshire.

Leeds were hoping to secure a straight sale, but are apparently now willing to do a loan-to-buy, with recent reports suggesting Leeds could receive £11.9m for Perri.

LeedsLive reporter Isaac Johnson has now take to X to report that the Whites have received formal enquiries for Perri.

Interestingly, though, he added that Torino are not the only club who have had an eye on the situation regarding Perri's future at Elland Road.

It certainly throws a spanner into the works given that it had looked a formality he would join Torino this summer.

What else do Leeds United need this summer?

A new goalkeeper was always likely to be among the top priorities for Leeds this summer.

But even with the expected arrival of Trafford, Daniel Farke will likely want more keeper cover given his only other option, should Perri leave, be emergency back-up Alex Cairns.

Outside of that, Leeds are expected to sign another forward, with Levante striker Carlos Espi being heavily linked.

Moves for Shea Charles and Julian Brandt are still in the works, though not much progress has been made in recent days on either deal.

And another left-back to cover for Gabriel Gudmundsson is also expected to be sought during the window.
