Harry Wilson is expected to be announced as a Leeds United player in the coming days.

Since leaving Fulham at the end of last season when his contract expired, the 29-year-old's future has been a subject of much debate.

However, despite being wanted by a host of Premier League clubs, Leeds have won the race for the Wales international's signature.

While Leeds fans have been waiting on confirmation of a deal for a while now, it's been reported that there are no hitches in the transfer and Wilson is expected to be in Daniel Farke's squad for their pre-season tour of the USA.

The South Wales Echo reported via their print edition on Saturday that it's "highly likely" that Wilson will be in the squad, which will take on Sunderland, Liverpool and, most notably for the forward, Wrexham.

And with that clash against Wrexham being first up for Leeds when they're in the States later this month, there's a chance that Wilson could make his Whites debut against his hometown club.

Harry Wilson's verdict on Wrexham's rise up the EFL

Though he never played for Wrexham, having joined Liverpool's academy as an Under-9 player, Wilson has kept close tabs on the Welsh club's rise through the rankings under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Speaking to Optus Sport two years ago, the Leeds-bound winger said just how unbelievable it was to see the two Holywood actors taking over at the Racecourse Ground, which is now widely known by it's Welsh name Y Cae Ras.

“I feel like, when the news broke two, two-and-a-half years ago now, that Ryan Reynolds and Rob wanted to take over Wrexham, I think me and everyone back home couldn’t believe it and didn’t believe it until the news finally broke from the club itself,” said Wilson.

“I think since they’ve been the owners, what they’ve done for the club, what they’ve done for the town has been amazing.

"I think the town really needed a lift – I think it was getting a bit run down and wasn’t in the best shape, but I think them coming into the football club has really galvanised the place."

When and where Wilson is expected to make his Leeds debut

Wilson's official Leeds debut will most likely be on 22 August when the Whites take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in their 2026-27 Premier League opener.

However, the first time the Welshman will play in front of fans with a Leeds shirt on will come a month sooner.

As it stands, Leeds' first pre-season friendly game will be against Wrexham on 25 July at 7:30pm US time.

The game will be played at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, which is where England played in a friendly against New Zealand ahead of the World Cup kicking off last month.

Due to the time difference, the game will kick-off at 12:30am on Sunday 26 July in the UK.
