Leeds United appear to be closing in on a deal for Nicolas Elvedi, with just a couple of hurdles to overcome.

The Whites are reported to have already agreed personal terms to make the defender their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.

Elvedi would join Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford in making the move to Elland Road if a deal can be struck.

While the Switzerland international is open to the move, there is still work to be done.

But there is every indication a deal will indeed go through between Leeds and Borussia Monchengladbach.

That is amid the latest news emerging out of Germany.

What is left to do for Leeds to conclude Nico Elvedi transfer?

Elvedi has agreed a three-year deal with Leeds, subject to Daniel Farke's men then agreeing a fee with Gladbach.

As per Kicker, it is looking a real possibility that the deal will be concluded as Gladbach do not intend to stand in their long-serving player's way.

Beyond agreeing a fee, Gladbach must also find a replacement for Elvedi in defence.

The Bundesliga side want a player experienced and with enough quality to slide right in.

Again, though, this does not look like being an issue. If nothing else, it just means it could take a little more time for a deal to be reached.

What is a realistic timeframe for Elvedi to Leeds deal?

Nobody is privy to what is going on behind the scenes at Gladbach in terms of finding a replacement.

These things take time, and the fact Leeds have agreed personal terms with Elvedi means the wheels are in motion.

Farke's side begin their Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest a week on Saturday.

There is no reason why a deal cannot be struck in the eight days between now and then.

However, Farke will be wary of throwing Elvedi straight into his starting line-up.

Leeds have other options at the back, though, including Muharemovic, so if it takes a little longer to integrate Elvedi into the team then so be it.
