Tarik Muharemovic prices sky rockets as Leeds United meet contract demands
Leeds United appear to have put all their focus on signing Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic.
Daniel Farke is ready to bolster his squad further after the marquee arrival of Harry Wilson at Elland Road.
Shea Charles of Southampton is another prime target, with Leeds have two bids rejected already.
But, after the departure of Pascal Struijk to Brighton, desperate reinforcements are needed at the back.
And Muharemovic appears to be their man.
With Premier League interest growing in the Bosnian, Leeds are looking to move quickly to get a deal done.
Tarik Muharemovic fee continues to explode
MOT Leeds News previously covered reports that Leeds would need to pay £34million to sign Muharemovic.
Now, that is only increasing.
Luca Cerchione has now reported that with Bournemouth and Sunderland interested, the defender would cost up to £38.3m.
One positive though, is that Leeds have met Muharemovic's salary demands already, according to the OcW Sport journalist.
They are said to stand at just below £3m per year, or around £57,000-a-week.
Leeds United ready to win race for Tarik Muharemovic
Thankfully, the Whites and 49ers have pushed themselves to the front of the queue.
Already said to be ahead of Sunderland and Bournemouth, there was also added interest from Newcastle.
Leeds are in pole position for Muharemovic, though, and that should be seen in their formal offer that is set to arrive.
So, what would Leeds be getting for their money?
Muharemovic is a towering left-footed central defender, so in many ways, would step straight into the void left by Struijk.
He is known for his ability to pass through the lines, as well as his anticipation on and off the ball.
Starring at the World Cup with Bosnia, it is expected that a move to the Premier League is the natural next step in his progression.
His growth through the ranks at Juventus before moving onto Sassuolo means he has reached a limit in Italy, with England a real testing ground.
Bournemouth and Sunderland may have European football next season, but Leeds don't need that to attract the next top players.
Given the ever-rising price, though, it would be smart for Leeds to get a deal done as soon as possible, or risk it becoming completely unaffordable.
