Meet Leeds' three transfer priorities, including James Trafford and 'irresistible' midfielder

Leeds United have made James Trafford one of three transfer priorities as they ramp up their summer business.

The Whites have so far signed forward Harry Wilson for free and centre-back Tarik Muharemovic for £34.1million.

Wilson adds depth to the attack, while Muharemovic is a like-for-like replacement for Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton and Hove Albion.

Daniel Farke likely would have wanted more players through the door by this stage, with the Whites now in the United States for their pre-season tour.

Money remains tight at Elland Road, however, with Leeds having to be smart with their business.

With that in mind, there are three players Leeds are eager to bring in to bolster Farke's squad.

What is latest on James Trafford to Leeds?

MOT Leeds News reported on Tuesday that Leeds are still eager to sign James Trafford from Manchester City.

In a new update via the i paper's print edition on Wednesday, it is reported that Leeds are big admirers of Trafford and consider him an upgrade on Lucas Perri.

However, Perri would first have to be sold to free up more funds to sign Trafford.

That is far from ideal for Leeds given they have already lost Karl Darlow this summer, as well as Illan Meslier.

City are prepared to let Trafford leave, but only if the right offer is tabled.

Beyond Trafford, two others are also wanted by Leeds.

Julian Brandt one of two midfield targets for Leeds

The report adds that Julian Brandt, who is a free agent after leaving Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, is another high on Leeds' list of targets.

Leeds were not looking to sign any players the wrong side of 30, but the report adds they find free agent Brandt "irresistible" to turn down.

Brandt, who is an attacking midfielder by trade but can also play on both wings, held talks with Leeds last week - as he did a number of other clubs.

Meanwhile, Southampton's Shea Charles is said to be the third "prime target" for Leeds.

The Whites have already had multiple bids turned down for the Northern Ireland international.

Fulham's £24m bid for Charles complicates matters for Leeds, but they remain in talks with Southampton over a possible deal.

A new striker and full-back are also wanted, but Leeds will first look to conclude deals for the three names mentioned.
