Leeds United work on Shea Charles compromise after latest rejected bid
Leeds United remain in talks with Southampton over a move for midfield target Shea Charles in the hope of reaching a compromise.
Daniel Farke's side had an initial bid of around £20million knocked back by the Saints.
A second offer has since been lodged, this time above £20m, which was also rejected.
The Whites are clearly eager to sign the Northern Ireland international as they are not walking away just yet.
Charles joined Southampton from Manchester City three years ago and has another year remaining on his contract.
Leeds may use that as a bargaining tool as an update is shared on negotiations for the Northern Irishman.
Leeds looking to knock down price as Southampton set Shea Charles fee
With a deal already being agreed to sign Harry Wilson, Leeds appear to be upping the ante for Charles.
As per an update from the Daily Mail on Saturday, talks are still ongoing between Leeds and Southampton to reach a compromise.
Southampton are said to be pushing for £30m for the 22-year-old, despite his lack of top-flight experience and his contract situation.
It is now a case of hoping Southampton budge on their valuation as Leeds potentially prepare to make a third offer.
And with talks to sign Charles ongoing, the same report mentions two more names who could arrive at Elland Road.
Leeds in talks to sign two other players beyond Charles
News of Pascal Struijk joining Brighton has rocked Leeds, who now need to find a replacement.
It has been reported that Leeds have already approached Borussia Dortmund over a deal for Nico Elvedi.
Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who plays his club football for Parma, is another they have opened talks over.
Supporters will hope each of those deals are concluded, of course, but a deal for Charles - whose ability was once hailed as "frightening" by Conor Washington - appears to be furthest down the line.
