Leeds United transfer roundup: Unexpected Zion Suzuki boost, first deal close

Published on

Leeds United finally appear to be about to ramp up their summer transfer business.

A new goalkeeper seems the obvious top priority right now as Karl Darlow is now officially off Leeds' books.

A number of names have been linked, with Parma's Zion Suzuki seeming to be the top choice at Elland Road.

It was reported earlier this week that Suzuki had turned Leeds down, but it appears the Whites may not be out of the race just yet.

That latest update comes amid widespread reports that Leeds could announce their first signing on Wednesday for a different player.

Here, MOT Leeds News rounds up all the latest goings on from the past 24 hours or so.

Derby County terms emerge for Jacob Widell Zetterstrom

Suzuki - more on him later - is not the only goalkeeper target on Leeds' list.

Derby County stopper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom is another, having caught the eye for Sweden at the World Cup.

Like Suzuki with Japan, Zetterstrom's stock has risen this summer.

It has now been suggested Leeds will have to pay in excess of £10million for Zetterstrom, which they may consider too steep for a Championship player.

Orjan Nyland could be a bargain option for Leeds

Another day, another goalkeeper link. This time it's the turn of Orjan Nyland.

There is certainly a theme developing as Nyland is another goalkeeper impressing at the World Cup with Norway.

Nyland is a free agent after leaving Sevilla at the end of last season, which always makes a move sound more tempting.

Leeds are one of five clubs interested in Nyland, but all this could be dependent on the latest with Suzuki.

Leeds appear to get fresh Zion Suzuki hope

Suzuki is a name that just will not go away. Any chance of a deal appeared to be off a few days ago.

However, a fresh report from Italy suggests Leeds remain in the hunt to sign Suzuki.

It seems that until Leeds sign a goalkeeper, or Suzuki signs for a team, the speculation will rumble on.

Harry Wilson deal could be announced imminently

Now for the worst-kept secret of the summer in free agent forward Harry Wilson.

It was reported a few weeks ago that Wilson had agreed to join Leeds following the expiry of his Fulham contract.

Finally, Leeds could announce the signing of Wilson on Wednesday now that the formalities are done.

The Wales international will be the first signing of the summer - and hopefully the first of many.
