Leeds United sources speak out on Harry Wilson transfer with Elland Road in overdrive
Leeds United are once again working on a move to finally bring Harry Wilson to Elland Road this summer.
The 29-year-old winger has long been linked with signing for Leeds, with the Whites' admiration for the Wales international no secret at this stage.
Having now been with Fulham since the summer of 2021, Wilson has made 187 total appearances for the Cottagers, scoring 36 goals.
2025-26 saw Wilson equal his second-best ever single-season goals return for Fulham, with his 11 strikes only bettered by the 18 he scored for Derby in 2018-19.
Still firmly in the prime of his career, a switch to Elland Road would provide Daniel Farke with a deadly left-footed weapon to wield, which is something his attack doesn't really have at the moment.
And, with his contract at Craven Cottage set to expire when June turns to July, the Welshman has the potential to be one of the pound for pound bargains of this summer's transfer window.
Leeds pushing for Harry Wilson deal amid strong competition
With a player of Wilson's quality set to hit the free agent market, it's no surprise to see a host of suitors putting together sales pitches for him.
Proven Premier League performers don't hit that market very often, and even less so when they've still got plenty of good years left in the tank as Wilson does.
In a fresh update from Sky Sports journalist Zinny Boswell via X on Friday, Leeds are actively working on a deal to sign Wilson as well as Julian Brandt.
Borussia Dortmund have already confirmed that Brandt will be leaving them when his contract expires on 1 July, with the attacking midfielder having spent the last seven years with the Bundesliga giants.
Back to Wilson though, and sources inside Leeds have informed Sky Sports that they are facing serious competition for his signature.
Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Everton are both said to be keen admirers of Wilson's and would like to sign him as well, whilst Champions League sides across Europe are also in the mix.
Why Wilson might prefer Everton or Aston Villa over Leeds
At 29, wherever Wilson goes this summer may end being his last big headline transfer switch of his career.
Therefore, he of course won't want to get his decision wrong, and that's certainly not to suggest that him choosing Leeds would be him doing so.
Farke's tactical approach, however, may lessen Leeds' chances of convincing him on Elland Road.
Wilson is a winger by trade and on the right is undoubtedly where he plays his best football from, but with Farke's shift to wing-backs in the second half of last season, he may not be able to play there with the Whites.
Everton and Aston Villa, on the other hand, do pretty much exclusively play with a back four and with wingers ahead of them, and so stylistically, Wilson may see those sides as being better fits for him than at Leeds.
The Whites are clearly confident and pulling out all the stops to bring him to West Yorkshire though, but this could be a saga that rumbles on deep into the summer.
With social media in overdrive and half of his Wales teammates in LS11, Wilson could very much fancy a move to Yorkshire.
