Leeds United are continuing to push for the arrival of goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.

The Whites are in need of a new number two, with Lucas Perri's move to Torino finally picking up steam.

James Trafford will undoubtedly be the LS11 outfits' first-choice shot-stopper but they cannot go into the season solely relying on the Englishman.

Should injury or suspension occur, that would leave Daniel Farke in a tricky situation.

For Zetterer, his future at Frankfurt is uncertain too, with the Bundesliga side looking to improve their options.

Noah Atubolu has been confirmed as Frankfurt's latest goalkeeper signing and Leeds have now pushed ahead to sign Zetterer with a fresh bid.

What is delaying Leeds' move for Michael Zetterer?

Leeds have been looking to snap up Zetterer over the last week and the transfer has been progressing slowly.

However, with Perri's exit imminent and Atubolu's arrival efforts are being ramped up.

According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenburg, Leeds have submitted a new and improved offer for Zetterer as they look to seal a permanent deal.

However, it is not Frankfurt blocking the move, rather it is Zetterer himself as he is seemingly still unsure over the transfer.

Information from Plettenburg shares that an answer over his future should be shared within the next 48 hours.

The Sky Sports reporter has also previously stated that Leeds were unable to meet the same financial package Zetterer has at Frankfurt.

So, hopefully this latest offer is enough to bridge that gap and move the German closer to wanting the move to Elland Road.

If not, the Whites only have a few days to turn their attentions elsewhere.

How much does Zetterer earn at Frankfurt?

The issue of wages is a problem for Leeds as Zetterer is on more than Perri was at Leeds.

According to Capology, Perri is earning £50,000 at Elland Road, with the Bundesliga goalkeeper on around £62,000 at Frankfurt.

So, it would not exactly be a straight swap on the wage books.

That £12,000 difference per week will certainly add up over time and with financial restrictions in the Premier League often causing problems, it is something the Whites will want to avoid.

However, they do also need to avoid a worst-case scenario where they leave themselves short between the sticks.

If the Whites are to sign Zetterer a compromise will likely need to be made as we inch closer to the 1 September deadline.
