Karl Darlow contemplates trio of offers, it could change everything for one Leeds player

Karl Darlow is still deliberating on his next career move amid interest from Leeds United and others.

The Wales international's previous contract at Elland Road expired earlier this week.

Leeds hinted at a new deal for Darlow at the time those previous terms expired.

He was first choice for the majority of last season after Lucas Perri struggled upon arriving from Lyon.

Losing Darlow would be a blow, even if Leeds have been linked with some replacements.

As the days tick down towards the start of pre-season, however, Leeds are seemingly none the wiser as to what is next for Darlow.

What is latest state of play with Karl Darlow situation?

The Daily Mail shared an update via their online transfer blog on Friday morning.

It was reported, as it has been already elsewhere, that Manchester United, Everton and Leeds have each offered Darlow a contract.

The report adds that Darlow is now weighing up those offers before making a final decision.

There had been suggestions Leeds looked the most likely to land Darlow, but it does not appear there is anything concrete to back that up.

And the same report adds that Darlow staying will raise fresh doubts for teammate Perri, who has surprisingly been linked with Arsenal.

While all this has been going on, Leeds are themselves looking to bring in another goalkeeper.

Darlow may be waiting on separate Leeds transfer development

Darlow was never expected to be first choice at Elland Road last season.

At an age where his next contract will arguably be the most important of his career, it is understandable the former Newcastle United keeper is taking his time.

Darlow will be fully aware Leeds are looking to sign Zion Suzuki, who will surely be signed with the intention of being number one.

If that is the case, Darlow will wonder if he is better being back-up at Man United instead, for example.

Daniel Farke would clearly like to keep hold of the 35-year-old, having praised him regularly last season.

Speaking in May, Farke said of Darlow: “I would just say how much I trust Karl. You could tell during the crunch time last season.

"He is right now in such a period where he is my number one goalkeeper and also keeps out a player like Lucas Perri, who is highly-rated and has impressed in the cup competitions with some decent performances.

“I think Karl has been fantastic in these last weeks. Since the first day I worked with him, not just his performance on the pitch but also how he is as a human being - I’ve got not just a high respect for Karl but I rate him so, so high."

In a dream world, Farke would have Suzuki and Darlow competing for the starting spot in goal.

But in reality, it may well be he only has one or the other.
