Karl Darlow is hours away from free agency at Leeds United.

As of July 1, those players who have not yet signed a new contract will enter the market as unattached.

At Elland Road, that includes Darlow.

Illan Meslier has already left, while Alex Cairns has agreed fresh terms as part of a summer of drama for goalkeepers in LS11.

Sam Byram is another player out of contract, although similar to Darlow, little has been said or done about that.

Leeds are said to have been locked in talks with Darlow, and want the Welsh international to stay at Elland Road.

Darlow changes everything within months at Leeds United

If this question around his future was asked at the start of last year, most fans wouldn't have batted an eyelid.

Despite ending the Championship season as number one, Lucas Perri was signed last summer and instantly jumped ahead.

Once again, though, the Brazilian was another keeper who struggled.

After several mistakes, Darlow was reintroduced in goal midway through the campaign, and Daniel Farke never looked back.

It made the decision to hand him new terms a no-brainer, but it still hasn't happened, or has it?

Leeds United hint at new Karl Darlow contract

Ironically, when hours from free agency, Leeds posted on social media with a video including Darlow.

While maybe filmed weeks or months ago, it seems strange to upload and include the keeper in it, especially if he was leaving as early as Wednesday.

Attending a LUFC Foundation event at Thorp Arch, Darlow surprised attendees with Dan James and Joe Rodon.

Interestingly, Leeds are yet to announce the contract agreement with Cairns, so could it come as a double deal?

Darlow signing too would make it two goalkeepers, and keep Leeds fans on their toes should the news break as early as Wednesday.

Both are fully deserved for the jobs they have done in and out of the dressing room at Elland Road.

The one counter to this would be that Leeds are being heavily linked with new goalkeepers, too.

Zion Suzuki is wanted after shining at the World Cup with Japan, as negotiations continue with Parma.

If Darlow also signs, either he would be happy not playing as much, or Perri would be shown the exit door.

There are a lot of changes coming in the goalkeeping department, it's just going to take time to learn exactly what.
