Leeds United have reportedly revived their interest in Yunus Musah, who could provide a different quality in central midfield.

The Whites have a long-held interest in the United States national team star.

The former Arsenal ace is now at AC Milan, but he has struggled to nail down a place in their side in recent times.

MOT Leeds News carried reports earlier this week that Leeds want to sign Musah from Milan.

It may well depend of former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim and what he is planning after taking over at the Italian club.

If they could achieve a deal, the 23-year-old would outrank against their current midfield options in one particular aspect of his game.

Yunus Musah's speed could benefit Leeds United

Leeds have an abundance of central midfielders, with the likes of Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, Ilia Gruev, Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff on the books already.

However, Musah beats them all when it comes to his top speed, as his was 21.68mph, per Sofascore data.

Tanaka is not far behind the American, boasting a top speed of 21.56mph, which is not slow.

Stach and Ampadu share the same top speed, which is 21.12mph, still not slow.

Gruev ranks bottom of the pile with a speed of 20.87mph, but that is not exactly scraping the barrel either.

Why pace is not the be all and end all for Leeds

Musah's pace could prove to be an advantage for Daniel Farke's side. However, it does not reflect in the distance covered per match.

The young midfielder covers 6.8 miles per game, a figure which only Tanaka's 6.7 within the Whites' engine room is lower.

Ampadu matches him with the same figure, while Stach covers 6.89 miles and Gruev manages seven.

Longstaff tops the pile for distance covered with an average of 7.45 miles, showing his value for the Thorp Arch side, when he is in the side.

Ultimately, Musah would not be a space destroying option for the Peacocks, but his speed would perhaps give them an extra element that could see them come out on top in more matches.

It would be a quality addition, especially if he can increase the distance that he can cover, and maintain his high speeds to match the added physicality of the English top flight.
