How Patrick Berg would fit into Daniel Farke's plans as Leeds circle for midfielder

Patrick Berg has emerged as an option for Leeds United this summer window.

The Bodo/Glimt midfielder has been impressing over the last year for both club and country.

For the Norwegian side, he was part of the Champions-League giant-slaying side that saw them defeat Manchester City and knock out Inter Milan.

He followed that up with impressive spells in North America at the 2026 World Cup.

He picked up two assists as Norway ventured into the quarter-finals before being eliminated by England.

However, Berg could now end up playing his football in the very same nation that knocked him out with Leeds one of his options.

What has been said about Leeds' interest in Patrick Berg?

Leeds' business has kept on moving this summer, with a move for back-up goalkeeper Michael Zetterer the likely next arrival at Elland Road.

Other than that, Mykhailo Mudryk could be poised to sign for Leeds on loan as well.

But the transfer may not stop there.

According to Football Norge, Leeds United are one of the teams eyeing up a move for Berg this summer window.

The Whites are joined in the race by fellow Premier League side Everton.

A midfield signing has been on the agenda at Elland Road this summer, following a failed pursuit of Shea Charles.

After numerous bids that fell below Southampton's valuation, Leeds would miss out with him moving to Fulham instead.

But now, with links to Berg, Daniel Farke could land the midfield signing he has been looking for.

How would Berg fit into Leeds' squad?

Leeds do typically play a midfield two which would make it hard for the fringe midfielders to get their chance.

As seen against Nottingham Forest, Farke did not take any of his starting midfielders off, with only Sean Longstaff getting minutes off the bench.

But Berg may have the qualities to push himself into the starting lineup picture should he move to Elland Road.

In the current Eliteserien season, Berg has maintained an impressive 90 per cent passing accuracy.

While he has also been strong in his duels. In 15 games, he has a duel success rate of 64 per cent.

Those traits would be ideal for Farke's Leeds, with the German liking to have control while also wanting hard working players.

And according to his Bodo/Glimt manager, that is what Berg is.

He stated previously, via Aften Posten: "He has something from nature, his genetics are absolutely fantastic.

"He is well-trained, and he is incredibly dedicated to all the things that you have to be dedicated to for the body to function as best as possible. He is absolutely world-class in that."

Whether a move is made this late into the window does remain to be seen, but he is a player on the LS11 side's radar.
