Michael Zetterer transfer terms revealed as Frankfurt goalkeeper arrives in Leeds for medical
Michael Zetterer is on the verge of signing for Leeds United after arriving in England on Saturday.
Daniel Farke is still trying to bolster his goalkeeper options after signing James Trafford for a club-record fee earlier this summer.
Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow have left Elland Road since the end of last season and Lucas Perri is widely expected to join them before the transfer window shuts in just over a week's time.
Perri was on the bench as Leeds beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but Frankfurt goalkeeper Zetterer now looks close to becoming the Yorkshire club's new No 2.
However, the latest news from Germany suggests that may no longer be the case.
Michael Zetterer set for Leeds medical but agreement still not done
According to German news outlet Sport1, Leeds are yet to finalise an agreement with Frankfurt for Zetterer's arrival.
The 31-year-old is, however, in England and reportedly arrived in Leeds on Saturday morning to undergo a medical.
It seems as though if that's the case, all parties are confident of an agreement being reached, with Frankfurt keen to agree an initial loan with Leeds.
Sport1 claims that the Bundesliga club also want to agree an option-to-buy clause with the Yorkshire giants and that a deal is set to be finalised soon.
What Zetterer's arrival means for Leeds' goalkeeper division
Zetterer was Frankfurt's go-to goalkeeper last season, completing 28 appearances for them in all competitions.
The ex-Werder Bremen goalkeeper was left on the bench on Friday, though, as Frankfurt beat St Tonis 11-0 in the first round of the German Cup.
Alex Cairns has committed his future to Leeds so he's set to stay and remain as third choice but Zetterer's arrival means Perri should now leave.
Torino have been linked with the former Lyon goalkeeper all summer, but a deal is yet to be finalised with them.
However, if Zetterer joins, it may grease the wheels for Perri's move to Italy.
