Leeds still pushing for Mykhailo Mudryk as Chelsea transfer plan hits obstacle
Leeds United are not giving up in their attempts to sign Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk.
Daniel Farke is keen to add some extra attacking flair into his side and the 25-year-old fits the bill.
Mudryk has returned to training after a doping ban that lasted 20 months, but is not in Xabi Alonso's plans.
The Whites had a loan offer turned down from the Stamford Bridge side as it did not meet their expectations.
However, that is not expected to deter them from trying again to sign the 28-cap international.
The latest update may give supporters hope that a deal can be struck after the Blues' transfer plans fell apart.
What were Chelsea's plans with Leeds target Mykhailo Mudryk?
Chelsea did want to send Mudryk to Strasbourg, the French club that they share ownership with.
Fabrizio Romano claimed on Sunday, via his Youtube channel, that the Whites are still trying to bring the Ukrainian to Elland Road, amid an obstacle with the move to Ligue 1.
He said: "Leeds are still there, they are pushing to sign Mudryk.
"Mudryk wants to stay in the Premier League, Chelsea were suggesting Strasbourg as a solution, but the player prefers to stay in the Premier League.
"There will be conversations on this topic, for sure, another very interesting one."
Mudryk, who reportedly earns £97,000-a-week at Chelsea, is believed to be keen on the move to the Yorkshire club in order to get back to fitness and show what he can do.
What does the data tell us about Mudryk?
Mudryk will be looking to revive his career in LS11 after spending so much time on the sidelines.
In the 2024-25 season, he managed 0.62 shots and 1.24 chances created per 90 minutes, according to Fotmob data.
The winger averaged 4.97 touches in the opposition box, so he is clearly dangerous in the final third.
He may just need a change of scenery to find the end product that deserted him in West London.
Defensively, Farke's side will be encouraged by his numbers, as he recorded 2.48 contributions per game.
The returning ace managed 1.24 tackles, 5.59 recoveries and 0.62 blocked shots, showing that he is willing to help out at the back.
The data suggests that if he can put it all together at Thorp Arch, he could be a very solid option.
