How Leeds United could trigger Jean-Matteo Bahoya transfer before January even arrives

Jean-Matteo Bahoya has become one of the latest obsessions for Leeds United fans.

That is despite him only playing three minutes.

Signed from Eintracht Frankfurt on deadline day, the left winger arrived with a big reputation at Elland Road.

Known for holding the Bundesliga speed record, Bahoya is currently on loan, with an obligation to buy in place for Leeds.

Daniel Farke has resisted to use him too much so far, and he's now away with France under-21s.

So, what are the conditions in place for this to become permanent?

Are Leeds guaranteed to sign Bahoya?

Not necessarily, but it is 99 per cent certain.

That's because Bahoya only has to play 10 games to make his move to Leeds a permanent one.

His small cameo against Crystal Palace was the first of those, with the floodgates possibly already opened.

With nine games left to play, Leeds are on the hook for £25.7million to seal their next permanent transfer.

Leeds aren't known for getting business done in January, unless they're desperate, but this could be sorted by then.

When could Bahoya play his 10th Leeds game?

Games come thick and fast in the Premier League, especially as you start to get closer to Christmas.

If Bahoya plays in the next nine fixtures, he'll trigger the conditional obligation on December 5 against Ipswich at Elland Road.

Of course, given he's only played three minutes for Farke, featuring in the next nine games is unlikely.

But, he has plenty more chances to get to 10 before January even arrives.

After Ipswich, Leeds play Liverpool, Fulham, Aston Villa and Hull City, all before 2027 arrives.

So, there's 13 chances for that to happen, but also, there's no rush.

With Harry Wilson still to come back from injury, as well as Brenden Aaronson and Dan James getting consistent minutes, competition is high.

Leeds fans aren't too happy with the latter two of that equation, though, so Bahoya will have the support of the stands behind him.

The Whites are planning for the future with this signing, that is clear, but what if he's more than help right now, too?
