Leeds United have been credited with interest in Southampton's Leo Scienza after his impressive season for the Saints.

The Whites have already made their first attacking signing of the summer with Harry Wilson coming in and ticking a big box for Daniel Farke.

The German head coach was keen to sign a left-footed forward who operates on the right-hand side of attack, but he may still want someone for the opposite flank.

Though Leeds don't usually play with out-and-out wingers anymore, Farke likes players who can play in wide pockets behind the striker.

There have also been suggestions that the former Norwich City boss could revert to his 4-2-3-1 setup, which would mean that wingers are required.

That could be where the interest in Scienza comes into play, as Leeds have been offered an update on the Brazilian playmaker.

Leeds can offer bid Southampton would 'struggle to refuse' for Leo Scienza

MOT Leeds News has previously reported that Leeds have been backed to sign Scienza after the winger's impressive season for Southampton, where he racked up 17 goals and assists combined in the Championship.

RTI Esporte reported in April that the Whites, along with several other Premier League sides, have been evaluating the possibility of signing the 27-year-old this summer.

It appears that while Southampton are not looking to sell their prized asset, there would be a price that would make chairman Dragan Solak fold, according to Saints journalist Adam Blackmore.

Speaking on BBC Solent Sport this Monday, Blackmore said: "As far as the owner is concerned, Scienza isn’t going anywhere unless they get stupid money for him.

"I think I was quoted a figure of £35m by Solak, the sort of thing he would struggle to refuse."

Whether or not Paraag Marathe and Co. would pay that kind of money for a player who has had one season in England is just one question.

However, Leeds' interest in the forward is not in doubt, as they are already in talks with the player's employers.

How Leeds could end up paying Southampton £65m this summer

Leeds have been locked in talks for Southampton's Shea Charles for weeks now, and have had multiple bids rejected for the Northern Ireland international.

The Whites are said to have had offers of over £20m rejected, as the Saints hold out for £30m.

If Marathe and Co. did fork out the money wanted for both Scienza and Charles, that would see Southampton pocket around £65m from Leeds for both players.

It would certainly be a controversial total sum, especially for two players who have only proven themselves in the second tier of England so far while in the country.
