Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter send messages as Joel Piroe leaves Leeds United
Joel Piroe has finally left Leeds United after months of speculation.
Daniel Farke made it no secret that the Suriname international wasn't in his plans at Elland Road after promotion.
Just two starts followed in the Premier League, with his only goal of the season coming in the FA Cup, missing several penalties, too.
Despite that, he vowed to fight on at Elland Road.
But after limited opportunities in pre-season over in the United States and back home, Piroe changed his mind.
And now, Piroe has signed for West Ham United in the Championship.
Leeds United family past and present react to Joel Piroe exit
It's always emotional when another of the squad that got Leeds back to the big time moves on.
Pascal Struijk did it twice, so he knows exactly what it means.
The now-Brighton defender commented on Piroe's Instagram farewell immediately, sharing two red hearts.
Archie Gray was top of the comments, writing: "What a guy, good luck mate," with blue and yellow hearts.
He's clearly still a Leeds fan, something which Georginio Rutter likely shares, with the Frenchman still somewhat of a cult hero.
Rutter also sent a message, sending another couple of red hearts.
Out of the current squad, Noah Okafor, Jayden Bogle, Jaka Bijol also delivered messages in the comments.
Despite hardly featuring, it's clear that Piroe was a huge part of the squad.
How much will Leeds earn?
Despite being an initial loan, Piroe's wages being off the books is a good start for the 49ers and Co.
It's said that West Ham will make the move permanent if promoted back to the Premier League.
That would reportedly cost them £12million in total with the loan fees, making a hefty profit for Leeds.
Piroe has been at Elland Road for three years of his contract, so the £10m paid to Swansea is already cut way down.
Leeds are finally selling correctly after years of neglect, and while fans may be disappointed in this loan, it makes sense, given that it's an obligation to buy.
Struijk, Joe Gelhardt, Jack Harrison, Isaac Schmidt and Max Wober all leaving permanently has seen a good total pumped back in.
