49ers evidence shows Leeds new signing blitz is on the horizon

The 49ers could be about to calm every Leeds United fan's remaining nerves this transfer window.

James Trafford has been announced as the Whites' third signing of the summer, after completing a £45million move from Manchester City.

The goalkeeper follows Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson to Elland Road, though Daniel Farke won't want the incomings to stop there.

Neither will Leeds fans, who still have some concerns over the speed of transfer dealings conducted by Paraag Marathe and Co.

The club planned before the summer that the window was going to be split into two phases, due to the interference of the World Cup.

Leeds are in the second phase of their plan, and the 49ers have already proven in the past that transfers can come in a flurry out of nowhere.

49ers evidence suggests Leeds transfer frenzy on the cards

Leeds outlined an intense transfer plan for after the World Cup, which has already seen Muharemovic and Trafford join the Whites.

But there are still plenty of positions that want to be upgraded, as Farke has been clear on his desire to add a new striker, midfielder and number 10, among other positions.

Some supporters are concerned that only three new faces have arrived in LS11 up until August, with just weeks remaining in the transfer window.

But history proves that the 49ers can sign off on a transfer blitz once transfer dominoes fall.

Leeds fans should look at the summer of 2023, when Marathe and Co. were able to sign five players in the last week of the transfer window.

Joel Piroe was signed on 25 August, while Djed Spence followed him to Elland Road five days later.

Ilia Greuv and Glen Kamara both joined on the eve of deadline day, while Jaidon Anthony was signed on 1 September to wrap up five additions in an intense seven-day period.

Considering the fact that three major first-team signings are already here, Leeds have plenty of time left to get one or two more starters through the door before filling out the rest of the squad.

The transfer dominoes that need to fall before Leeds transfer assault

Leeds are working on several signings, but are not currently close to landing their fourth addition of the summer.

Big money has been spent despite Marathe's admission that it will take another two years until the club can operate how they wish as a Premier League team in the market.

That said, the likes of Lucas Perri, Wilfried Gnonto, Piroe, Mateo Joseph and more may need to go in order for Leeds to raise funds for the final pieces of their transfer window.

A new back-up goalkeeper is also needed behind Trafford, with cover for Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle also wanted.

Leeds have made an offer for San Lorenzo's Orlando Gill, who could come as deputy to Trafford, while Harvey Elliott is also admired among others at Elland Road.

A new striker, number 10 and midfielder are the big three still needed at Leeds, and the rest will most likely be signings for depth.
