Leeds United draw up shortlist for next transfer after James Trafford as Lucas Perri options assessed

Leeds United have only partly solved their issues at goalkeeper with the signing of James Trafford.

England goalkeeper Trafford has moved to Elland Road from Manchester City in a club-record deal that could be worth up to £45million.

The former Burnley goalkeeper, 23, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Whites.

But Leeds are still looking for more reinforcement after Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier both departed this summer.

Lucas Perri had a poor first campaign last term as well, and is thought to have no future with Leeds.

Now it looks as though plans are being put in to place to continue strengthening a problem position.

But it in today's market it could end up looking an absolute snip, as Leeds are signing a player still way off his prime years.

However, it is fair to say that Leeds do not have good back-up for Trafford, with the loss of Darlow to Manchester United definitely a blow.

Sky Sports journalist Zinny Boswell has now posted on X to share Leeds' latest plans in the goalkeeping department.

Boswell wrote that Leeds have drawn up a five-man shortlist of goalkeepers to find their deputy for Trafford.

He did say, though, that despite reports to the contrary no bid has been made for San Lorenzo's Orlando Gill.

Boswell also added that Leeds are now also assessing options for Perri's expected departure from Elland Road.

The Brazilian is currently recovering from a small injury, but once that is healed up his move to Torino on an initial loan deal is expected to proceed.

What else do Leeds United want this summer?

Signing a goalkeeper was an urgent priority, and Leeds can now start looking to other areas of the squad.

Next up for Daniel Farke is likely to be focusing on a new forward option to complement Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top.

Ideally, it would be a forward who can play out wide or up top, with Marseille's Igor Paixao known to be one player under consideration.

Another attacking midfielder is thought to be on the shortlist, as is cover at left-back and potentially another centre-back.
